let's get this tank rollin' (if you say so), let's get this tank rollin' (if you say so), I drew an image so sad, it made our house grow. nothing changes ('til we get to Eau Claire), nothing changes ('til we get to Eau Claire), I found some scissors and a button, but there were no pairs. I never cry, I never cry (if you say so) I never cry, I never cry (if you say so) I drew an image so sad, it made our house grow.

I dreamed about the old house then I realized it wasn't ours no more. I tried to close my eyes and go back to sleep but I just wasn't tired anymore. We were like two children when we were together, soaking up the orange rays and the tropical weather. And when I took a look at the box you were holding I smile and I see a little room. And when I look inside it's our kitchen, and we're sitting at the table. And we are like children when we are together, soaking up the orange rays in the tropical weather.

speedin' in the wrong lane I lose track of time, and I roll up the windows, and my ears pop in, but most days I stay pretty happy in my rock garden. rock garden. rock garden. speedin' in the wrong lane, I stick my feet outside, and kick the cars up in the air before they can hit us. And today hasn't been so great, but most days I stay pretty happy in my rock garden. rock garden. rock garden. rock garden. Let me give you a tour sometime. rock garden. rock garden. rock garden. rock garden. I used to lift these big rocks by myself! garden. rock garden. rock garden. rock garden. I used to lift these big rocks by myself. garden. rock garden. rock garden. rock garden. rock.

If I stay up one more minute cause of you, I swear they'll have to tear me in two, because I need my rest. Now, if you don't turn down the awful sound of your voice, I won't have a choice, 'cause I need my rest. I'll have to grab you and force you to see: the worst time of the night is at 3 in the morning, when I need my rest. I loved you before - yes, it's true - but now I just don't know what to do, 'cause I need my rest! Now, if you don't turn down the awful sound of your voice, I won't have a choice, 'cause I need my rest! I'll get up from bread, drive a fist through your head, and you'll hear what I said, that you're gonna end up dead, I need my rest! If you don't turn off that awful sound of your voice, oh, how I would rejoice, because I need my rest!

Mind Control 02:46
you used mind control, baby, to confuse me. you used real mind control to keep me in business. and I thought of you as the most profound and rare, while I was a-drivin' through. I took a lap around the block, saw the clouds coming out of the laundry pipes, of the blue house on the corner, the one with the cosmic lights. you used mind control to confuse me. you used real mind control. some kids were playing four-square, inventing the rules as they go. they were playing with a bouncy ball in Milwaukee. that was a therapeutic moment for me, to know that I could still have fun. you used mind control, baby, to confuse me. you used real mind control...

what a surprise! what a relief! (what a relief!) from way down in this pit, I can't focus! (can't focus!) the couch is comfy, the cushion is wet, and the post man delivers the mail that I get. I'm not so hungry, so I tried on my skates, I did a couple laps, back and forth. (back and forth!) then I sat on the stairs, and I unlocked the skates. now I'm sitting on the stairs, hands on the railings. then I walked out through the garage, (through the grass) to go and check the mail, (what'd you bring me, mail man?) then I was sitting on the stairs, hands on the railings.

about

In December 2015 local legend, country AND western and folk recording artist Gunther Steinbeck gave a rare interview on a Saint Paul, Minnesota college radio show, "Keepin' It Weird".

He was promoting a departure from his usual recorded output. A melancholy, reflective collection of songs with "more of a jazz sound" he has recorded with locally renowned trampoline player Johnny Sachs.

Here, for the first time ever, is that very song collection.

Presented for free on bandcamp, I give you:
